This morning at Growing Reader’s story time, we continued to talk about color. Today’s color was orange and we used pumpkins as our focal point.
We repeated some of our favorite songs and rhymes, like “Sticky, Sticky Bubble Gum” and the “Color Rhyme,” and then we learned a new “Pumpkin Song”.
Pumpkin Song (tune: I’m A Little Teapot)
I’m a little pumpkin
Orange and round.
Here is my stem,
There is the ground.
When I get all cut up,
Don’t you shout !
Just open me up
And scoop me out!
We read Pumpkin Trouble by Jan Thomas and Pumpkin Heads by Wendell Minor.
We also played “Ring Around the Pumpkin.”
This game is exactly like “Ring Around the Rosy;” however, we walked around a large pumpkin cut-out place in the middle of the circle.
Ring around the Pumpkin,
Pocket full of nuts,
They all fall down!
During craft time, we made pumpkin heads. To make your own pumpkin head at home, you’ll need orange, black, and green construction paper, a glue stick, and a Popsicle stick.
Here are few fun moments captured on film. We hope you will enjoy the pictures!
We’re so sorry you missed Growing Readers story time this morning. If you’re signed up for Growing Readers, please be at the library each Tuesday at 10am. We’ll see you next week!
