Choose Your Own Adventure

The Little Falls Public Library is reopened for the community with social distancing guidelines, and there are exciting things happening. Due to a generous donation from the Carrig family in honor of their mother, Theresa Carrig, and use of our endowment, the Library has renovated the Children’s area and the front portion of the library. Upgraded technology, a table with interactive STEM toys and LEGO robotics, new paint, carpet, lights, furniture, and layout will brighten the space and, hopefully, inspire young and adult minds.

Ever responsive to community needs, new programs for all ages are being created. Meditation, sign language, genealogy classes, Spanish for homeschoolers, Minecraft club, and others are currently being considered. Curbside pickup, which many patrons have taken advantage of, has allowed the Library to offer services while partially open. With the help of our incredible staff, our library continues to serve and enrich our community. Truly, without them, all of this would not have been possible.

Unfortunately, our endowment does not permit us to use funds to pay our staff. This makes fundraising, especially our annual cocktail event, an essential part of our operating budget. With the current reality of COVID-19 and the utmost concern for the safety of our patrons and staff, we are developing plans for our annual fundraiser, scheduled for November 7th to happen virtually.

With the help of Dining Inside Out, a company in the Syracuse area that specializes in virtual events, we plan to bring a “Choose Your Own Adventure” style event with a theme based on “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern. We will invite guests to enjoy musicians, painters, magicians, cheese, and chocolate boxes and drink together virtually. The food will be real and picked up locally, but the tents that showcase the artists will be virtual.

We are proud that our library is a source of knowledge, inspiration, and community, but we need your help to make it the best it can be. We will continue to be a home for those sources no matter the outside circumstances. We hope that you will support us with a business sponsorship or an individual donation.
